Our opinion

Camera UI

The camera UI is pretty unified among Galaxy phones, the Samsung Galaxy J7 even has Pro mode. It is surely not as advanced as you will get on a Galaxy S or Note series, but you get sliders for ISO, exposure compensation and white balance but nothing on focus or shutter speed.

Pro Mode

The Pro Mode gives you access to other stuff like Panorama, Continuous shot, HDR, Sound & shot and a couple of other features. On the viewfinder, you also get options including color effects and metering.

Some key features

It has several modes (Auto, Pro (lets you adjust white balance, ISO and exposure manually), Panorama, Continuous shot, Beauty face, Sound & shot, Sports and HDR.), Effects ( Grey-scale, Sepia, Negative), and timer ( 2, 5 or 10 seconds). You can also press the home button twice to launch the camera, even when the screen is off and use the volume rockers as camera shutter.

Image Quality

The image quality of the main camera is quite good. White balance is quite accurate. The noise reduction does a good job of keeping images relatively noise-free and sharp, it even handles complicated detail like foliage quite well.

The Galaxy J7 camera is a 13MP shooter and impressively features an f/1.9 aperture – just like the Galaxy S6, Note5 and A8. Of course, it doesn’t have their sensors, but this is the premium budget smartphone we’re talking about here.

The front-facing camera is a 5MP/1080p shooter, which gets its own flash. The Galaxy J7 is for some fun photography even in the dark.

HDR

The HDR mode did a good job of bringing more detail to the sunny sky, without smudging up the rest of the image. Unlike other Samsung Galaxy variants, instead of lowering the resolution, it shot at full 13MP resolution.

Front Camera

The 5MP selfie camera is a key feature of the Samsung Galaxy J7, even though the sky sometimes gets overexposed even when the sun is not directly behind you. Colors appear a bit dull, at times.

You can use Samsung’s Selfie Panorama mode to capture 120° of the scene, a single shot usually captures only 85°.

Video Mode

Both cameras on the Samsung Galaxy J7 can take 1080p videos at 30fps. The camera lacks high-FPS modes.

On the upside, the 1080p video form the main camera is very good quality. It suffers from over-saturated colors and narrow dynamic range like the still camera, sometimes, but still the 17Mbps videos look sharp and plays smoothly.

The microphones capture good quality sound and the phone saves the best of it at 256Kbps bit rate. The mics aren’t flagship level, but still get above average audio quality.

Verdict

The daylight shots are decent, but the exposure is not consistent, so a few images end up dull or over exposed. Macro shots are good offering nice bokeh effect, thanks to f/1.9 aperture. Images are sharp and the color reproduction is good. HDR shots are better, except exposure issues in daylight. It is advised to use the Pro mode and adjust the exposure accordingly. Low-light shots have some noise as usual, but the image quality is pretty good. Images with flash are good since the flash offers an ample amount of light and is not over powering.

Overall, The rear camera is decent and the front-facing camera is about average for the price range.

Remix OS | What's that?

Hi Guys,

Today, we will talk about the Remix OS, which has been the new trend of 2016.

Firstly, What is Remix OS?

Remix OS is an Android powered desktop-like windowed environment,  to grant the benefits of the mobile OS with productive characteristics of a desktop like operating system such as a Task bar, true multi-tasking, and more. It’s currently available on hardware made by Jide, such as the Remix Mini, but is also available as a boot-able Operating system for Windows and Mac Devices (laptops, desktops etc.)

Why is it better than other Android emulators like BlueStacks?

Unlike an emulated environment which tries to copy Android in other operating systems, Remix OS truly integrates the best parts of Android with that of Windows or Mac. Some quick key features include –

  • Support for Mouse
  • Support for Keyboard
  • Support for multi window and multi tasking.
  • Task bar
*Seriously, a task bar in an Android, our lives are complete now.*
  • Support for Right click
    *Awweesomme*

What are the system requirements?

The system should have an awesome owner, which our sensors tell us, you probably are, isn’t that also the reason behind, you being a reader of TechGlobule?

How much do I’ve to pay to use it?

You can’t pay for it, as it is free of any charge. You can download, install and use it for free.

How to get it?

You can download it from the link of official website, which developed Remix OS, that is Jide.com.

Freedom 251 | Benchmarks

Hi Guys,

This is TechGlobule Your Gateway to Technology.

And here we have the Freedom 251 with us, and in this video we will be doing the Benchmarks Tests. This may not be the retail unit, and the pre production unit, so the real Benchmarks might be up or down. But still, it will give us a general idea about the performing capabilities of this phone.

I have already described its general specifications in an earlier post, Freedom 251 | Is it real?

We used Antutu Benchmark in this video, you can read more about it on this post Benchmark your device with AnTuTu Benchmark.

A few of you might be wondering the low Antutu score, but we shall not forget that the Antutu score is over 64 times the price of the phone, which is the rarest ratio I’ve ever seen.

We also tried GeekBench 3 in this video.

If you have any questions regarding the phone, ask us in the comments. If we get too many questions, we might make up a separate FAQ video.

Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and sharing.

Freedom 251 | Gaming Review

Hi Guys,

This is TechGlobule. Your Gateway to Technology.

And here we have the Freedom 251 with us. Various people are doubting the gaming capabilities of this phone at the price of just 251 Indian Rupee. So we’ll be doing the gaming review in this video.

We did both heavy gaming as in Asphalt 8, and casual Gaming as in Subway Surfer.

Subway Surfers is a casual endless runner game made by Kiloo. The touchscreen was quite responsive, which obeyed me without lagging at all.

Then, we tried Asphalt 8, made by Gameloft, which comes under the category of heavy gaming. Unlike what we were expecting, we experienced no lags at all, and the gameplay was all smooth.

Play The Little Guardian on your Android device.

The Freedom 251 smart-phone sports a 1.3GHz QuadCore processor which is quite better than a lot of phones out there. Even my YU Yuphoria has only a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor.

It also sports 1GB of RAM which helps the case.

CAUTION: IGNORE the way I’m PLAYING the game in the video, I also had to BALANCE the CAMERA.

After the gameplay, the phone was not extremely hot, but yeah the temperatures crossed 35 degree Celsius.

Check out our complete Freedom 251 playlist on YouTube.

Yup, the Freedom 251 surely exists, and is a great phone.
We enjoyed using the phone which is available at such a cheap price.

This is the video we have been waiting for, we have the Freedom 251 smart phone with us. In this video, we will just show off the phone.

This phone’s market price is 251 Indian Rupees or less than 4 US Dollars. Yes, you heard, that right, less than 4 US dollars.

Now, coming back to the smartphone’s build quality, it has plastic build, and has the Indian national flag printed as the back panel. In the front you get a 0.3 Megapixel camera, below which is a 4′ WVGA display, which is an
IPS display, then there’s a single button acting as the back button, which is similar to an iPhone.

Moving to the back, you get a 3.2 Megapixel camera, with LED flash.
The left side provides the volume rocker with a mute button, similar to that of an iPhone.
The speaker is on the bottom, and the 3.5mm jack along with micro USB port on the top.

Now, coming to the jargon part, which consists of hardware and software quickly, 1.3GHz Quad Core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GBs of internal storage, with 5GB available to the end-user, expandable up to 32GB, Dual SIM with 3G support, a 1450mAh battery, all running on an Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

Overall, speaking the specs of this phone are quite great, (yes, great) for just the price of a pack of 1GB 3G internet.

Automatic Timed Shutdown with Command Prompt (CMD)

Hi Guys,

It happens a lot, that we need someone else’ assistance to shut down our computers, in case we have to leave urgently, but we won’t need that assistance anymore.

Why can I need Automatic Shutdown for?

There can be infinitely many scenarios where you might need to shut down your computer after a certain period of time, for example –

  • While waiting for a download to complete.
  • While waiting for a long antivirus scan.
  • While waiting for any thing which is gonna take a predictable amount of time.
  • Or maybe playing a cruel prank on a friend ??

For any such event, we can just set the timer 10-15 minutes more than their estimated time of completion and just go on with your other work.

What is Command Prompt aka CMD?

A command prompt is an entry point for typing commands to the computer. By typing commands at the command prompt, you can perform tasks on your computer without using the Windows graphical interface.

You can do almost all the things with CMD, which you can do with the Operating System, sometimes even more.

How to trigger an automatic shutdown?

Follow these steps –

  • Press Windows button + R, to get to Run.
  • The commands can be directly entered here.
  • The command to shut down is shutdown -s
  • This command will shutdown your computer in 1 minute. You will get this message.

How to set a time period and other functionalities?

Command to automatic shutdown –

shutdown -s

Command to cancel shutdown –

shutdown -a

Command to schedule shutdown after 5 min (300 seconds) –

shutdown -s -t 300
One can set any amount of time in seconds format, like for 10 minutes, command will be shutdown -s -t 600

Command to add a custom message “LOL :)” with shutdown –

shutdown -s -c “LOL :)”
One can set any custom message, like “Revenged”, command will be shutdown -s -c “Revenged”

Command to restart computer –

shutdown -r

Note –

One can use several of these commands in a single command. For example, commands like the one below will work.

shutdown -r -t 3600 -c “I took my revenge.”
